Sensory Learning Workshop!
Do you scroll through online photos of amazing sensory play setups and wonder “Where do I even start?”
Are you an early childhood educator or a parent who wants to create sensory experiences without spending hours on setup or cleaning up afterwards?
We’ll show you how to create easy, engaging, and meaningful sensory play experiences using simple materials you already have. You’ll also learn why sensory play matters, exploring children’s sensory needs and how to design activities that truly support their development.
You’ll see the full process in real time and experience how sensory play comes to life through simple, intentional techniques. Working in small groups, you’ll create your own sensory potion play experience, and by the end of the workshop, you’ll have no cook playdough with tools and resources you’ve personally made to take home with you.
Workshop Focus:
Understanding Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD): Learn how SPD impacts children’s learning and play, and how to support their sensory needs effectively.
Creating No-Cook Playdough: Discover how to make simple, safe playdough and set up an invitation to play—without simply giving it to a child. ! - Take what you make with tools and resources.
Potion Tray Demonstration: See step-by-step how to set up an engaging, sensory-rich potion play experience that sparks curiosity and creativity. - Create your own in small groups

SENSORY PLAY IN ACTION : FROM UNDERSTANDING TO PRACTISE
Our in-person sensory workshop is returning this July, and we are so excited to welcome you into this experience.
If you are an early childhood educator, parent, or caregiver who wants to feel more confident creating meaningful sensory experiences, this workshop is for you. Maybe you’ve been inspired by messy play ideas online but aren’t quite sure how to bring them to life, or maybe you’re supporting children who find sensory experiences overwhelming or challenging either way, you’re in the right place.
This workshop has been designed to gently guide you through both the understanding and the practical side of sensory play, so you leave feeling supported, inspired, and confident to create in your own space.
WHY THIS WORKSHOP ?
This workshop was created from real experience not just ideas, but years of working hands-on with children, educators, and families in sensory play environments across Australia and internationally.
Over the past 3+ years, we’ve delivered sensory workshops across different settings, refining what actually works when it comes to engaging children, supporting regulation, and making sensory play feel simple, achievable, and meaningful.
We know that sensory play can sometimes feel overwhelming when you’re looking at it from the outside like there’s a “right way” or that it takes a lot of time, money, or creativity.
But the truth is, it doesn’t.
With the right understanding and a few intentional techniques, everyday materials can become powerful learning experiences that truly support children’s development.
This workshop is about sharing that knowledge with you in a way that feels practical, supportive, and easy to bring into your own space straight away.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about confidence, connection, and understanding the why behind what you’re doing.
By the end, you won’t just leave with ideas —you’ll understand how to think like a sensory play facilitator, and that changes everything.

Hello and Welcome!
I’m Nikkie, the founder of Sensory Atelier and a Montessori and Early Childhood teacher with over a decade of experience in early learning. Over the years, I've become deeply passionate about Sensory Processing Disorder in children and have expanded my expertise to include special needs education to better support sensory development in little ones.
I started Sensory Atelier with just seven children, navigating the journey without any prior experience. At the time, there weren’t many businesses like mine, so I learned everything as I went. Incredibly, within just six months, we won the award for Best Eco-Friendly Kids' Business of the Year!
Why this workshop?
This is our Third year running workshops, and the most rewarding feedback I've received is how easy it is for everyone to understand my teaching. I work closely with Early Learning Centers and schools to support educators, teachers, and parents in creating hassle-free sensory play experiences. Whether you’re looking to enhance your lessons as an educator or even turn this into a side hustle business, this workshop will give you the tools to create joyful and stress-free sensory play activities.
Creativity is at the heart of everything I do. Over the years, I’ve learned to embrace my passion for it, especially when creating play experiences. I can't wait to show you how simple it can be to set up engaging activities without the overwhelm, even when browsing Pinterest. As I always say, learning should be fun for both children and adults and most importantly, enjoyable.
Join me for a special morning of inspiration and creativity. I look forward to sharing this experience with you!
Love and Light,
